This view was captured from Blackfriars bridge on a day where there was no sign of the general public and no boats in River Thames. Although this bridge offers a beautiful view of London as you look down the Thames river there is an eeriness to this piece. The view features numerous London landmarks sitting between St Paul's Cathedral and Tate Modern gallery and bright block colours have been used to make buildings and features stand out over the blue sky above. The view offers a nice perspective which shows buildings winding around the Thames bank leading to Canary Wharf in the distance. London skyscrapers such as The Shard and Sky Garden also offer a very characteristic skyline of London. There is a great sense of space created by the minimal sky and Thames that gives a focus to the urban structures in the foreground of the painting. This also reflects on the pandemic in this area and shows a great deal of change it can have on a cityscape.
