'The Memory of Walking' is a unit of 48 postcard size paintings which relate intricately to each other. I am a keen hill walker with an interest in geology and would roam the Scottish hills at every opportunity. Not only has the Covid19 lockdown prevented me from hiking but because I was shielding I was completely tied to house and garden.

This piece is an emotional response to my memories of walking the Scottish mountains and the impressions that Scotland's fascinating geology has left on me. It also reflects on the Earth's permanancy in contrast to our own vulnarability.

The unit is curated in such a way that our eyes cross the gaps between individual pieces to create 'longer' walks while sudden breaks might trip us up.
